Question: Do you know, and are you acquainted with Philip Alexander? If you do, state what you know of his understanding, habits and manners – and all you know of him.
Answer: That he was born near where Phill was born and that he has known him all his life. That he has worked on the farm belonging to Phill for near 10 years. That he thinks him incapable of managing a farm or taking care of himself. That he thinks him much more ignorant than a child of 9 years of age. That he has never seen anyone of so little forethought. He the deponent declares that Phill suffered Mr Luke to take his estate and enjoy the profits thereof. He also says that Mr Luke sold a boy named Lewis that he cut his (Phil’s) wood down and sold it. The deponent also says that Phill although he has been farming all his life, knows nothing at all about it, that he does not know how to make anything on a farm – that he cannot work and would harm if he was not supported.
