UPSHUR COUNTY, TEXAS

Emmett Vernon Goins, believed to be the first child of John V. Goins and Julia Ann Stanley Goins, was born September 20, 1898 at Gilmer, Texas. He was married to Carrie Motley December 1, 1918, according to Morris County Marriage Book F, page 385. Twenty-five years later Emmett V. Goins and Carrie Motley Goins gave a mineral deed to B. A. Skinner on April 30, 1943, according to Morris County Deed Book 45, page 517.

Emmett Vernon Goins died September 4, 1955 in Ballinger, Texas Clinic-Hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was a white male, age 56, and a resident of Talpa, Coleman County, Texas, according to Runnells County Death Book 4, page 199. He was buried in Albany Cemetery, Albany, Texas.

Carrie Motley Goins, a widow, gave a mineral deed to Thomas P. Moore August 4, 1961, according to Morris County Deed Book 101, page 324.

John V. Goins was married to Julia Ann Stanley December 9, 1897, according to Upshur County Marriage Book 3, page 152. She was born in Texas in 1878. John V. Goins and Julia Ann Sanley Goins lived at Gilmer, Texas in 1898.

John V. Goins, Julia Ann Stanley Goins and their son, Ernest B. Goins received a general warranty deed from W. C. Williams to a lot in Omaha, Texas September 25, 1925, according to Morris County, Texas Deed Book 6, page 219 and 223. They received a release of a vendor’s lein note from W. C. Williams March 19, 1926, according to Morris County Deed Book 10, page 589.

Julia Ann Stanley Goins was listed in the Port Arthur, Texas city directory from 1945 through 1951. She was listed as “Julia C. Goins, widow of John V. Goins.” She lived at 805 9th Street from 1945 through 1949. In 1951 and 1952 she lived at 748 Fifth Street, Apartment 1.

Julia Ann Stanley Goins, a resident of Port Arthur, died at Groves, Texas May 11, 1964 at age 86 of a cerebral hemorrhage, according to Jefferson County, Texas Death Certificate 45631.

Ruby Lycolian Gooing, first child of Troy Angus Gooing and Mary Estelle Cox Gooing, was born December 12, 1910, according to Upshur County Delayed Birth Book 22, page 163. Vivian L. Gooing, Route 2, Parma, Idaho attested to the birth January 26, 1943.

Troy Angus Gooing was born in Texas in 1887. He was married to Mary Estelle Cox January 9, 1910, according to Upshur County Marriage Book G, page 124. She was born in Texas in 1893.

In December 1910 he was a farmer living on Route 1, Gilmer, Texas.

On May 18, 1911, Tray Gooing received a deed to 22.5 acres of land from J. H. D. Cox, assumed to be his father-in-law for $332.50, according to Upshur County Deed Book 27, page 181.

Mary Estelle Cox Gooing died May 19, 1912, according to Upshur County Probate Book 5, page 207. Her estate included a community property interest in 22 acres of land near Kelsey, Texas. The estate was valued at $250.
