Oscar Lee Goines, son of Richard White Goines and Victoria Nash Goines, was born in Madison County, TX August 17, 1893. He was married about 1920 to Linnie Ferguson, the daughter of Jim Ferguson. Linnie Ferguson Goines was born March 5, 1895 in San Augustine County, TX, and she and her husband lived there until 1921. Oscar Lee Goines was a farmer in Madison County in 1933. On February 21, 1946 Oscar Lee Goines received a deed to property in Madison County from W.V. Jones for a consideration of $1,552.55, according to Madison County Deed Book 77, page 354.

On August 7, 1963 Oscar Lee Goines and Linne Ferguson Goines sold this property to Thomas Adams for $3000, according to Madison County Deed Book 150, page 497. In 1963 Oscar Lee Goines and Linnie Ferguson Goines lived on South May Street, Madisonville, Texas.

Oscar Lee Goines died of cancer August 20, 1963, according to Madison County Death Book 6, page 7. He was buried at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Madison County, according to Shirley Faye Goines McVey, informant.

Linnie Ferguson Goines died November 24, 1973 of a cerebral vascular accident, according to Madison County Death Book 7, page 61. She was also buried in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, according to Shirley Faye Goines McVey, informant.

Marvin Lee Goines, believed to be the first child of Oscar Lee Goines and Linnie Ferguson Goines, was born November 3, 1921, at San Augustine.

He was married at age 16 to Miss Viola Craig on November 3, 1937, according to Walker County Marriage Book R, page 237. He was a farmer in Madison County, TX in 1940.

On August 12, 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Marshall Islands, Mariana Islands, and Volcano Islands. He participated in the Battles of Guam and Iwo Jima. He received no wounds, according to Walker County Discharge Book 3, page 457. He returned to his home in Walker County, TX after World War II.

He was a student in 1947. In 1948 he was employed in public works in Huntsville. Marvin Lee Goines and Viola Craig Goines received a deed from Gibbs Bros. Company to Walker County property, on January 2, 1961, according to Walker County Deed Book 171, page 80. He gave an easement on the property to Gulf States Utilities July 13, 1970, according to Walker County Deed Book. He gave the company another easement June 24, 1971 on 157 acres of land in the Davids Survey in Walker County, according to Deed Book 236, page 707.

Marvin Lee Goines and Viola Craig Goines received a release from the first Rediscount Corporation September 20, 1972 on property in Walker County, according to Walker County Release Book 6, page 404.

He was married before 1972, wife’s name Jean A. Goines. Oscar Lee Goines and Jean A. Goines received a warranty deed to 157 acres of land in David Survey, Walker County, Texas September 20, 1972 from his parents, according to Walker County Deed Book 249, page 212.

Larry Wayne Goines, second child of Marvin Lee Goines and Viola Craig Goines, was born January 8, 1947 at Huntsville, according to Walker County Birth Book 5, page 404. He was married before 1972, wife’s name Dianna M. Goines. Larry Wayne Goines and Dianna M. Goines received a warranty deed from Clyde Morris on February 22, 1972 in David Survey, Walker County, Texas, according to Walker County Deed Book 242, page 462.

Donald Ray Goines, third child of Marvin Lee Goines and Viola Craig Goines, was born November 10, 1948 in Huntsville, Texas according to Walker County Birth Book 6, page 184. On April 11, 1968 he was married to Mary Elaine Ford, according to Madison County Marriage Book M, page 7. Of Donald Ray Goines, Mary Elaine Ford Goines and descendants nothing more is known.

Madie Lenora Goines, sixth child of Oscar Lee Goines and Linnie Ferguson Goines, was born December 22, 1933, according to Madison County Birth Book 7, page 352. On October 20, 1973, at age 40, she was married to Felix Clyde Alston, according to Madison County Marriage Book L, page 160.

Shirley Faye Goines, daughter of Oscar Lee Goines and Linne Ferguson Goines was born April 11, 1935 in Montgomery County, Texas, according to BVS File 33311. On August 18, 1951 she was married to Curtis Ray McVey, according to Madison County Marriage Book L, page 88. Shirley Faye Goines McVey gave family information in 1963 and 1973 about her parents at the time of their deaths.

He died of gangrene and senility July 19, 1949, according to Effie Goynes, informant. “William P. Goynes died August 7, 1949,” according to BVS File 39360. Effie Florence Goynes, who was born in 1896, died as a widow July 26, 1955, according to Marion County Death Book 11, page 136.
