Raymond Gideon Going was born September 9, 1935 at Bat­son, Texas. In 1953 his home was at 312 Louise Street, Edna, Texas. On February 27, 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was white and his military occupation while sta­tioned in Okinawa was typist. He was discharged December 21, 1953. He re-enlisted as a corporal October 1, 1956 and was discharged December 11, 1959, according to Tarrant County Discharge Book 112, page 209 and 211.

James Lee Goins was born August 26, 1923 at Evandale, Texas in Jasper County. He enlisted in the U.S. Army March 18, 1943 at Houston, Texas and served as a cook in Battery B, 469th Anti-Aircraft Battery. He served in the Bismarck Archipelago and in New Guinea and in other overseas locations from August 29, 1943 to January 1, 1946. He was discharged January 25, 1946, according to Jefferson County Discharge Book and returned to his home at Rt. 1, Box 168, Silsbee, Texas. He showed his civilian occupation as an asbestos worker.

He was married to Sabatha James Knupple about 1946. Shortly afterwards, he was employed as a log cutter in Silsbee.

Levi Franklin Goins, son of Phil Goins and Rebecca Elizabeth Kirkindall Goins, was born November 15, 1899 in Jasper County. He was a veteran of World War I. He was married about 1920 to Bessie Holmes. In 1929, Levi Franklin Goins and Bessie Holmes Goins were living at Beaumont where he was a mechanic. Later he was employed by Bethlehem Steel Corporation as a machinist.

Levi Franklin Goins received a deed to a lot in Pinecrest Addi­tion of Beaumont March 5, 1932 from Magnolia Implement Company, according to Jefferson County Deed Book 545, page 297. Levi Franklin Goins and Bessie Holmes Goins on March 29, 1943 paid off 10 acres of land in Orange County purchased July 1, 1942, according to Orange County Deed Book 73, page 549. On January 24, 1944, they sold the 10 acres to Floyd C. Kilmer for $2,021, according to Orange County deed Book 77, page 2622.

On December 20, 1946, Levi Franklin Goins deeded Lot 12, Block 109, Pinecrest Addition to his wife, according to Jeffer­son County Deed Book 665, page 191.

Levi Franklin Goins died in Beaumont January 8, 1956 of car­cinomatosis after a 35-year residence there, according to Jefferson County Death Certificate No. 48837. He was listed as a re­tired machinist living at 2510 Buchanan. He was buried at For­est Lawn Memorial Park, according to Bessie Holmes Goins, informant.

Levi Franklin Goins, Jr, son of Levi Franklin Goins and Bessie Holmes Goins, was born about 1922. He was married about 1946, wife’s name Norene. Levi Franklin Goins, Jr. received a deed from C. L. Shaw March 11, 1946 to Lot 11, Block 109, Pinecrest Addition, Beaumont, according to Jefferson County Deed Book 645, page 495. Levi Franklin Goins, Jr. and Norene Goins sold the property to J. L. Sullivan December 24, 1946, according to Jefferson County Deed Book 648, page 9.

Mary Maria Goins, second child of Levi Franklin Goins and Bessie Holmes Goins, was born at Beaumont May 30, 1929, according to Jefferson County Birth records. On June 14, 1961 she was married to William Harrison, according to Orange County Marriage Book 24, page 303.

Stewart Goins was born October 23, 1925 at Evandale, Texas, according to BVS File 1003963. He enlisted in the U.S. Army March 31, 1944 and stated that he was single, a shipfitter with an address at Route 1, Box 168, Silsbee, Texas.

He served overseas in central Europe from February 3, 1945 to July 28, 1945. He was discharged as a private first class November 26, 1945, according to Jefferson County discharge Book 46, page 535.

He reenlisted the following day at Cooke, California and served overseas from March 15, 1946 to December 14, 1946 as a cor­poral, Company A, 33 Infantry Regiment. He was discharged January 2, 1947, according to Jefferson County Discharge Book 42, page 587.

He was married about 1948 to Peggy Lou Heller, a native of Arkansas. In 1949, Stewart Goins and Peggy Lou Heller Goins lived in Silsbee where he was employed in the insulation busi­ness. He was employed as a grinder in 1951. In 1955 he was an ironworker and lived in a rural area of Orange County, Texas.

On August 7, 1959 Stewart Goins and Peggy Lou Heller Goins received a deed from Edith H. Chance for a lot in Sharp Survey, according to Orange County Deed Book 209, page 519.

She was married there August 6, 1893, at age 15, to Joseph Alexander “Zan” Gassiot, son of Joseph Adolphus Gassiot. The groom was born July 3, 1871 in Livington, Texas. In 1897 they were living at Livingston in Polk County where he was a farmer. In 1898 they resided at Leggett, Texas, also in Polk County. In 1900 they lived at Ollie, Texas in Trinity County. In 1903 they lived at Holly, Texas in Houston County. In 1908 they lived at Valera, Texas in Coleman County.

He died there April 23, 1945, and she died at Coleman, Texas December 14, 1974 and was buried beside her husband.

Burrie Gassiot, daughter of Joseph Alexander “Zan” Gassiot and Etta Almendra “Alma” Guynes Gassiot, was born Ausut 10, 1895 at Livingston. She was married at Breckenridge, Texas August 31, 1936 to Pete Schultz. She died March 25, 1938 in Coleman County.

Horace Reed Gassiot, son of Joseph Alexander “Zan” Gassiot and Etta Almendra “Alma” Guynes Gassiot, was born September 8, 1898 at Leggett. He was married March 26, 1926 at Coleman to Hallie McElrath. He died January 14, 1969 in San Angelo, Texas.

West Texas Gassiot, son of Joseph Alexander “Zan” Gassiot and Etta Almendra “Alma” Guynes Gassiot, was born December 29, 1900 in Trinity County. He was married at Santa Ana, Texas to Bernice L. Freeman July 5, 1924. He died May 11, 1978 and was buried in Valera Cemetery.

Thomas Cleg Gassiot, son of Joseph Alexander “Zan” Gassiot and Etta Almendra “Alma” Guynes Gassiot, was born July 8, 1903 at Holly, Texas in Houston County. He was married May 16, 1928 at Santa Ana to Sarah Elsie Bible. He died November 23 at Brady, Texas and was buried in Brady Cemetery.

Leo Birgham Gassiot, son of Joseph Alexander “Zan” Gassiot and Etta Almendra “Alma” Guynes Gassiot, was born August 14, 1908 at Valera. He was married December 9, 1929 at McCamey, Texas to Verner Allene Batsell. He died November 23, 1979 at Valera.

Roxie Gassiot, daughter of Joseph Alexander “Zan” Gassiot and Etta Almendra “Alma” Guynes Gassiot, was born November 19, 1910 at Valera. She died there November 17, 1924 of typhoid fever.

Imogene Gassiot, daughter of Joseph Alexander “Zan” Gassiot and Etta Almendra “Alma” Guynes Gassiot, was born December 10, 1915. She died of “Spanish influenza” October 22, 1918 and was buried in Trinity Cemetery, Trinity, Texas.
