ECTOR COUNTY, TEXAS

Billie Paul Goan, son of James Paul Goan and Laura Traweek Goan, was born June 20, 1920. In 1952 he and his wife, Helyn Marie Goan moved to Odessa where he was employed as a mechanic. From 1963 to 1965 they lived at 1411 E. 21st Street. In 1965 he operated Bill’s Filtering Service, and she was employed as a bookkeeper at First National Bank. In 1966 he was again employed as a mechanic, and the couple lived at 1507 E. 43rd Street.

Billie Paul Goan died November 6, 1966 of a myocardial infarction and was buried in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Odessa, according to Ector County Death Book 112, page 585. Helyn Marie Goan continued to live at 1507 E. 43rd Street until 1968 and then moved to 3117 N. Jackson Street. In 1973 she continued with First National Bank as a secretary.

Paul Goan, believed to be a son of Billie Paul Goan and Helyn Marie Goan, was born about 1948. He was listed in the 1966 and 1967 city directories of Odessa as a student at Permian High School. In 1968 he was shown as a pressman for the “Odessa American” and lived at 4201 N. Grandview.

Karen Sue Goan, believed to be a daughter of Billie Paul Goan and Helyn Marie Goan, was born about 1949. She was married June 14, 1968 to Horace McGee Fowler, according to Ector County Marriage Book 22, page 372.

Charlotte Ann Goan, believed to be a daughter of Billie Paul Goan and Helyn Marie Goan, was born November 5, 1954, according to BVS File 197580. In 1973, she was living at 3117 N. Jackson Avenue, according to the city directory.

Chester E. Goin and his wife, Kitty Ellen Goin were shown in residence in Odessa at 2001 W. Second Street in the 1948 and 1949 city directory. He was employed as a roughneck by Baker & Bates Drilling Co. In 1950, 1951 and 1952 he was shown with the same company living at 2733 N. Adams where they resided until 1960. In 1953 Chester E. Goin was a clerk for White’s Auto Store, but in 1954 returned to roughnecking and continued in that work until 1963. the last year he was listed in the Odessa city directory.

In 1960 the couple moved to 2800 Redbud and continued there until 1963. In 1961 Kitty Ellen Goin was listed in the city directory as an accounting clerk for Medical Center Hospital living at 2800 Redbud. Apparently the couple was divorced. On September 8, 1961 Kitty Ellen Goin was married to Von Lee Lewis, according to Ector County Marriage Book 17, page 181.

Patricia Lynn Goin September 21, 1947

Patricia Lynn Goin, believed to be a daughter of Chester E. Goin and Kitty Ellen Goin, was born September 21, 1947, according to BVS File 112855. She was listed as a student living at 2800 Redbud in the 1965 city directory. In 1967 and 1968 she was living at 1000 N. Graham. In 1970 she was employed by Medical Center Hospital in its medical records department. She was married December 29, 1969 to Donny Keith Corbett, according to Ector County Mar-riage Book 24, page 72.

Chester E. Goin was shown as a roughneck for Thompson Drilling Company in 1966, 1967 and 1968. In 1970 and 1972 he was employed by Jones & Laughlin. His wife, Johnnie M. Goin was a ward secretary for Medical Center Hospital. Their residence from 1966 through 1972 was 1615 W. 26th Street.

Forrest Wayne Goin was born May 22, 1927 in Oklahoma, according to Texas BVS File 1140475. In 1950, 1951 and 1952 he was shown as an engineer for Phillips Petroleum Company, according to the Midland, Texas city directory. He resided at 909 N. Sam Houston in Odessa. Dene Goin, a stenographer for Southwestern Investment Company in 1949 lived at 1304 N. Lauderdale. In 1950 she also lived at 909 N. Sam Houston. Mary Goin in 1951 also lived at that address.

“Dean Goin” was listed in the 1952 city directory of Odessa as a stenographer for Phillips Petroleum Company living at 512 N. Main. “Willadene Goin” was married to Donald Earl Grove, according to Midland County marriage records.

Forrest Wayne Goin in 1961 and 1962 was shown to be living at 908 N. McKinney. He was married to Dorothy Marie Zubicek February 26, 1966 at Midland, according to Midland County Marriage Book 17, page 478. From 1965 to 1972 he was shown to be a sales representative for Gus-tin-Bacon Manu-facturing Co. From 1965 through 1971 he and Dorothy Marie Zubicek Goin lived at 3803 N. Ever-glade.

W. Dick Goines and his wife, Paula Goines resided in Odessa from 1963 through 1971. In 1963, he, a rigger lived at 3643 E. County Road. From 1965 through 1971 they lived at 3711 Boulder. From 1965 through 1967 he was a shooter for McCullough Tool Company. In 1968 he was employed by Tidewater Oil Company. In 1970 and 1971 he was in the Production Department of Getty Oil Company.

Alonzo Seibe Goings Jr, 24 married Sarah Sue Bond, 22 on December 28, 1966 according to Ector County marriage records. Children born to Alonzo Seibe Goings, Jr. and Sarah Sue Bond Goings are unknown.

Boron Goins, a plumber with Cash Plumbing Company and his wife, Lucille Goins lived at 1205 Milburn in 1959, ac-cording to the Odessa city directory. Jack Goins also lived at the same address.

L. E. Goins was married to Gladys M. Tankersley in Mid-land, Texas September 26, 1938, according to Midland County Marriage Book 5, page 56. In 1942 they lived at 215 S. Texas Avenue, Odessa. At that time he was em-ployed as a roughneck for Lee Drilling Co. They reap-peared in the 1953 edition of the Odessa city directory living at 3630 Muskingum. From that time through 1973 L. E. Goins operated Goins Plumbing & Heating Company in Odessa. In 1960 L. E. Goins and Gladys M. Tankersley Goins moved to 1302 Castle Road where they continued to live in 1973.

Robert Gowan and his wife, Anne E. Gowan lived at 3128 N. Jackson, according to the 1955 city directory of Odessa.

Leonard Eugene Gowans was married to Miss Saul Lynn Deboskie September 16, 1967, according to Ector County Marriage Book 22, page 5. In 1968 and 1969 Leonard Eu-gene Gowans and Saul Lynn Deboskie Gowans lived at 1209 South Pine Avenue. He was shown in the U.S. Navy during that time.

Alfred Gowin and his wife Geraldine Gowin was listed in the 1957 Odessa city directory living at 1726 Holley. He was shown as the operator of the South Side Gulf Station. Also employed there at that time was Archie Gowin. His wife was listed as Ethel Gowin.

Ralph C. Gowin, retired, was listed in the Odessa city directories from 1966 through 1972 living at 3528 Maple. In the 1973 edition he was shown at 3102 Blossom Lane.

R. Parker Gowing was listed in the 1973 city directory of Odessa as the executive director of Permian Basin Planned Parenthood, Inc. His residence was shown at 2451 Idlewood Lane.

Tim M. Gowins was married to Claire Karen McKay October 17, 1948, according to Ector County Marriage Book 8, page 28. From 1950 through 1955 he was listed in the Odessa city directory as a rig builder employed by Stromberg Construction Company and Copens & Simmons.

In 1957 he operated Gowins’ Texaco Service. In 1958 he was a cabinetmaker. In 1960, the last year that the couple appeared in the Odessa directory, he was again a rig builder.

From 1950 until 1952 Tim M. Gowins and Claire Karen McKay Gowins lived at 913 West 8th Street. From 1952 until 1956 they lived at 1731 Keystone. In 1957 they lived at 2721 N. Kay Avenue, and from 1958 until 1960 they lived at 3109 Winfield Avenue in Odessa.
