Kate W. Gowan and John P. Gowan gave a warranty deed to James Yows for land in the Carson Survey of Coryell County September 29, 1888, according to Coryell County Deed Book 4, page 27.
Kate Gowan and husband gave a deed for land in the Carson Survey of Coryell County to James Towes for $158.33 January 8, 1889, according to Coryell County Deed Book 27, page 10.

CROSBY COUNTY, TEXAS
John Goen was the father of an infant born in Crosby County November 30, 1911, according to BVS File 19418.
Grady O’Neal Goin and Ouida Eden Goin were the parents of Revella Jeanne Goin who was born November 22, 1924, according to Crosby County Birth Book 11, page 342. This entry was made to correct one in Crosby County Birth Book 2, page 54 which stated, “Marcello Goins, the daughter of Grady Goins and Onita Eden Goins was born November 22, 1924.” A marginal notation by the clerk indicated the earlier entry to be “incorrect.”
Ila Ruth Goins, the daughter of J. O. Goins and Lucinda Estelle Battey Goins, was born March 9, 1909. She lived on Route 2, 12 miles northwest of Crosbyton and died at the Crosbyton Hospital January 15, 1963 of cerebral thrombosis, according to Crosby County Death Book 5, page 270. She was buried in the Crosbyton Cemetery.
John Peter Goins was born about 1890. He was married about 1912 to Nora L. In 1916 John Peter Goins and Nora L. Goins were residents of Crosby County. John Peter Goins appeared in the deed records of Crosby County August 30, 1916. John Peter Goins deeded land to S. M. Walker May 21, 1921, according to Crosby County Deed Book 27, page 569. He also deeded land to C. K. Wilmeth January 5, 1933 according to Crosby County Deed Book 48, page 312.
John Peter Goins and Nora L. Goins deeded 1.41 acres of land to the State of Texas for highway right-of-way March 7, 1935, according to Crosby County Deed Book 51, page 560. John Peter Goins declared his residence his homestead January 27, 1936, according to Crosby County Deed Book 52, page 257. Nora L. Goins appeared in real estate transactions in 1937, 1939, and 1940. She gave a warranty deed to D. R. Church December 14, 1939, according to Crosby County Deed Book 60, page 62.
Nora L. Goins received a warranty deed to Medina Irrigated Farms July 20, 1938 in Bexar County, Texas, according to Bexar County Deed Book 1637, page 577.
John Peter Goins, plaintiff, and Nora L. Goins, defendant, were parties to a divorce trial in Crosby County’s Seventy-second District Court November 2, 1940. In the divorce settlement John Peter Goins received 160 acres of land in Crosby County described as the northwest quarter of Section 31. Custody of their child, Samuel Preston Goins, age 25 and “mentally deficient” was given to Nora L. Goins. Samuel Preston Goins died February 22, 1944 in Travis County, Texas, according to VBS Death Certificate No. 3242.

John Peter Goins entered into an oil lease with Barnsdall Oil Company May 5, 1945, according to Crosby County Deed Book 71, page 522. He entered into an oil and gas lease with Gulf Oil Company July 29, 1969, according to Crosby County Deed Book 27, page 420.

Samuel Preston Goins, son of John Peter Goins and Nora L. Goins, was born in 1915. He was named in his parents’ divorce action as a 25-year-old mentally defecient. He was listed in Bexar County Probate Court File 35886 as “feeble minded.” He died February 22, 1944 in Travis County, Texas according to Travis County Death Certificate 10758.
