Mrs. Trola Mae Goynes was a resident of Marshall in 1950 when a son was born. She, a school cafeteria cook, lived at 1340 Maddox from 1959 to 1964, according to the Ft. Worth city directory. In 1965 and in 1967 she lived at 1508 Stephen­son Street, Ft. Worth.

She received a warranty deed from Housing and Urban Devel­opment to Lot 11, Block 6, Eastwood Addition, Ft. Worth, October 17, 1967, according to Tarrant County Deed Book 4474, page 460. From 1968 through 1972 she lived at 4400 Strong Avenue and continued to be employed at Terrell Junior High School.

Robert Earl Goynes, only known child of Trola Mae Goynes, was born June 8, 1950 at Marshall, according to BVS File 36437.

In 1967 he was listed in the Ft. Worth city directory as a porter for Rollins Services and lived at 1508 Stephenson with his mother. In 1969 he was listed as a grinder for Texas Steel liv­ing at 4400 Strong Avenue, the address of his mother. From 1970 through 1973 he was shown as a student living at 4400 Strong Avenue by the city directory.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps July 7, 1970 at Dallas and was discharged August 2, 1972, continuing to show his home address as 4400 Strong Avenue, according to Tarrant County Discharge Book 130, page 69.

John Christopher Columbus Goins, son of Nath Goins and Emily Jones Goins, was born in Henderson County, Texas, July 17, 1875. He was married about 1900 to Lou Cordelia “Delia” Reese, who was born in North Carolina July 6, 1882.

John Christopher Columbus Goins and Lou Cordelia “Delia” Reese Goins were residents of Hill County, Texas in 1904. From 1908 to 1915, they were residents of Mills County, Texas. In 1919 they lived near Cleburne, Texas. In 1922 they lived at Elkins, Texas in Brown County where he was a farmer.

In 1938 and 1939, he, a laborer, lived at 1314 Avenue B, Brownwood, Texas, according to the city directory. In 1941, he lived at 501 Ward and was employed by the city of Brown­wood, according to the city directory.

In 1959 he was retired and lived at 804 East Baker. John Christopher Columbus Goins died February 6, 1960 of cere­bral apoplexy, according to Brown County Death Book 1960, page 1226. He was buried in Greenleaf Cemetery.

Lou Cordelia “Delia” Goins died April 25, 1961 of a stroke, according to Brown County Death Book 1961, page 1603. Her residence at the time of her death was at 803 East Baker, Brownwood. She was also buried in Greenleaf Cemetery.

George Lee Goins, regarded as a a son of John Christopher Columbus Goins and Lou Cordelia “Delia” Reese Goins, was born in Johnson County, Texas, about 1903. On September 16, 1922, he was married to Miss Elva Hinsley at Brownwood, according to Brown County Marriage Book 9, page 493. Elva Hinsley, the daughter of M. Hinsley and Lillie Egger Hinsley, was born in Mills County, Texas, February 9, 1907.

In July 1923, George Lee Goins lived at Clyde, Texas, in Brown County. Elva Hinsley Goins died January 25, 1964 of uremia and was buried in Greenleaf Cemetery, according to Brown County Death Book 1964, page 2569.

George Lee Goins was married to Mrs. Minnie Donshoo April 24, 1965, according to Brown County Marriage Book 23, page 489. George Lee Goins was listed in the 1969 city directory of Brownwood as a resident of Route 3, Box 182.

Minnie Donshoo and George Lee Goins gave a warranty deed to Kilgore Campbell to property in the Huling survey July 1, 1971, according to Brown County Deed Book 609, page 403. Consideration was $4,000.

Children born to George Lee Goins and Elva Hinsley Goins include:

Valeta Goins born July 13, 1923.

Valeta Goins, daughter of George Lee Goins and Elva Hinsley Goins, was born July 13, 1923, according to Brown County Birth Book 1, page 2078. She was married to Harry Bowden Clark December 22, 1941, according to Brown County Mar­riage Book 14, page 530. Valeta G. Wendel, believed to be Valeta Goins, lived at Route 1, Aledo, Texas May 20, 1968.

James Baker Goins, son of John Christopher Columbus Goins and Lou Cordelia Reese Goins, was born January 20, 1904 in Hill County. He was married tp Nora Nell Harris June 16, 1928, according to Brown County Marriage Book 11, page 154. Nora Nell Harris was born in Brownwood in 1905, the daughter of J. Harris and E. Landers Harris.

James Baker Goins and Nora Nell Harris Goins gave a war­ranty deed to Lee Sherrod April 27, 1929 to 85 acres in the Clark Survey, according to Brown County Deed Book 251, page 576. They appeared in the 1939 city directory of Brownwood living at 703 Sharpe with two children under 16.

A daughter, Betty Jo Goins who died May 19, 1939, was buried in Greenleaf Cemetery, Brownwood.

Nora Nell Harris Goins, a victim of dementia praecox, was committed to Austin State Hospital, Austin, Texas September 18, 1939, according to Brown County Probate Book 31, page 598. She died there of an accidental burn April 20, 1942, ac­cording to Travis County Death Certificate No. 862.

James Baker Goins appeared at 810 Milton with two children under 16, according to the 1939 Brownwood city directory.
James Baker Goins received a warranty deed from Mrs. T. T. Anderson September 7, 1942, to property in Huling Survey, ac­cording to Brown County Deed Book 318, page 191. James Baker Goins, “a single man,” gave a warranty deed to the prop­erty on Valley Street purchased from Mrs. T. T. Anderson June 24, 1944, to Miss Dollie Anderson, according to Brown County Deed Book 329, page 334.

James Baker Goins sued Miss Dollie Anderson and Ed and Willie Anderson in the following month on July 27, 1944 and recovered the lot on Valley Street. Johnson and Griffin, attor­neys, received a half interest in the lot for their legal services in the suit, according to Brown County Deed Book 331, page 630.

James Baker Goins was married to Mrs. Lillie May Adkinson August 19, 1944, according to Brown County Marriage Book 18, page 77. Lillie May Adkinson Goins purchased the half interest in the Valley Street property for $175 from Johnson & Griffin May 29, 1945, according to Brown County Deed Book 337, page 112. She received the deed as her separate property.
Lillie May Adkinson Goins signed an affidavit October 14, 1946 stating that she would sign a deed to convey her half in­terest in the property to her husband, James Baker Goins, ac­cording to Brown County deed Book 417, page 11.

On October 16, 1946, Lillie Mae Adkinson Goins and James Baker Goins gave a warranty deed to Carl C. Rountree to Lot 1, Block 9, Smith and Crothers Addition, Brownwood, for $1,600, according to Brown County Deed Book 349, page 459.
James Baker Goins received a quit claim deed from Lillie Mae Adkinson Goins to the Valley Street property November 4, 1946, according to Brown County Deed Book 375, page 42. Apparently they were divorced about this time.

In 1947, James Baker Goins was married to Ruby Lee Sanders November 5, 1949, according to Brown County Marriage Book 20, page 261. Ruby Lee Sanders was born in Gilmer, Texas, in 1931.

In 1949 James Baker Goins and Ruby Lee Sanders Goins con­tinued to live at 108 Valley, according to the city directory. In 1951, 1952, 1953 and 1955, James Baker Goins, a laborer for the city, lived at 108 Valley Street. Three children under 16 were included in the household.

In 1957, he was employed by the Gas Department, City of Brownwood and continued to live at 108 Valley. In 1958 he was employed by the Sanitation Department. In 1959 his ad­dress was 3304 2nd Street.

James Baker Goins died March 26, 1960 of metastatic carci­noma, according to Brown County Death Book 1960, page 1271. He was buried in Jordan Springs Cemetery, according to Mrs. Inez Brumley, informant.

In 1961 Ruby Lee Sanders Goins lived at 403 Congress with eight children under 16, according to Brownwood city direc­tory. In 1964 and 1966 she lived at 307 Congress.

James Baker Goins and Norma Nell Harris Goins were the parents of an infant which was born in 1929 and died May 1, 1929, according to BVS File No. 19555.

Betty Jo Goins, daughter of James Baker Goins and Nora Nell Harris Goins, was born about 1931. She died May 19, 1939 of nephritis, according to Brown County Death Book 2, page 115. She was buried in Greenleaf Cemetery.

Estites Carl Goins, assumed to be the third child of James Baker Goins and Nora Nell Harris Goins, was born at Re­gency, Texas in Mills County August 19, 1932. On June 18, 1952, from 108 Shallett Street, Brownwood, the address of his father Estites Carl Goins enlisted in the U. S. Army. He was discharged June 3, 1955 as a private first class, according to Brown County Discharge Book 9, page 124.

Estites Carl Goins was married to Wanda Nell Russell April 23, 1954, according to Brown County Marriage Book 21, page 281. Wanda Nell Russell was born at Ebony, Texas in 1940. In 1956 Estites Carl Goins, a wrapper for Mrs. Howard’s Bak­ery, and Wanda Nell Russell Goins lived at 108 Shallett Street, Brownwood. In 1957 he was a student at a GI school and lived at 108 Valley Road, the address of his father.

On May 4, 1955 Estites Carl Goins and Wanda Nell Russell Goins received a warranty deed from W. P. Man to Lot 6, Block C, T. E. Addition, Brownwood, according to Brown County Deed Book 471, page 56. In 1960, he was a laborer for Halford Company, Brownwood. From 1961 through 1966 he was a construction worker for Hallford & Pruitt Contractors and lived at 915 Sharp, Brownwood. In 1967 he continued with Hallford & Pruitt and lived at 403 Congress.

On September 25, 1968 Estites Carl Goins and Wanda Nell Russell Goins and others gave a warranty deed to Gertrude Harris to 40 acres, according to Brown County Deed Book 573, page 256.

In 1969 Estites Carl Goins, city sanitation department em­ployee and Wanda Nell Russell Goins, a seamstress for Brownwood Manufacturing, lived at 1514 Beaver, according to the Brownwood city directory.

Donald Carol Goins, second child of Estites Carl Goins and Wanda Nell Russell Goins, was born April 29, 1957 at Brown­wood, according to Brown County Birth Book 1957, page 652.

Peggy Doris Goins, third child of Estites Carl Goins and Wanda Nell Russell Goins, was born August 21, 1960, accord­ing to Brown County Birth Book 1960, page 2252.

Danny Lynn Goins, fourth child of Estites Carl Goins and Wanda Nell Russell Goins, was born September 6, 1963, ac­cording to Brown County Birth Book 1963, page 5159.

Darlene Nell Goins, fifth child of Estites Carl Goins and Wanda Nell Russell Goins, was born July 18, 1967, according to Brown County Birth Book 1967, page 6850.

Lonnie Carroll Goins, son of James Baker Goins, was born July 17, 1949, in Brownwood. He enlisted in the U. S. Army about 1967 and was discharged in 1969 as a corporal, accord­ing to Brown County Discharge Book 11, page 288. He re­ceived the Purple Heart in Viet Nam.

He was married to Vicky Lynn McAdams May 30, 1970, ac­cording to Brown County Marriage Book 25, page 455. Vicky Lynn McAdams was born in Utah in 1955. Lonnie Carroll Goins, an employee of 3M Corporation and Vicky Lynn McAdams Goins lived at 901 Carney, Brownwood in April 1971 when their first child was born:

Amanda Ann Goins, first child of Lonnie Carroll Goins and Vicky Lynn McAdams Goins was born April 17, 1971 in Brownwood, according to Brown County Birth Book 1971`, page 150.

Mary Belle Goins, first child of James Baker Goins and Ruby Lee Sanders Goins, was born February 24, 1951 at Brown­wood, according to Brown County Birth Book 20, page 139. She was married December 21, 1973 to Roy Alen Allison, ac­cording to Brown County Marriage Book 28, page 222.

Estella Goins, third child of James Baker Goins and Ruby Lee Sanders Goins, was born March 2, 1953, according to Brown County Birth Book 21, page 234. On November 25, 1969, she was married to Jack Calvin Campbell.

In 1941 John Christopher Columbus Goins, Jr. was employed by the city of Brownwood, when he developed a dementia praecox condition, according to two physicians of Brown­wood. While mixing rat poisoning for the city he concluded that he “had been poisoned and that his finger nails were coming off and that his feet would shrivel,” according to medical testimony presented to Brown County Probate Court recorded in Brown County Probate Book 34, page 430. The court concluded that he was a victim of lunacy and committed him to Austin State Hospital, Austin, Texas, on August 6, 1942.

On March 29, 1952, medical authorities determined that John Christopher Columbus Goins, Jr. was “restored to his right mind” and he was returned to his home, according to Brown County Probate Book 34, page 431 and Book 45, page 470.
He received a warranty deed from Ralph M. Herring December 1, 1952 to Lot 12, Block 11, Brownwood Heights Addition, Brownwood, for $175, according to Brown County Deed Book 410, page 504.

John Christopher Columbus Goins, Jr, “a single man,” re­ceived a warranty deed from Chester Jones May 9, 1953 to Lot 50, Block 9, Malone Addition, Brownwood, according to Brown County Deed Book 415, page 315.

In 1955 he was a laborer for Ross & Son Construction Com­pany and lived at 3304 2nd Street, according to the city direc­tory. In 1959 and 1961 he was listed as a yardman at that same residence. In 1964 and 1966 he was listed as a laborer living at 1605 Main Boulevard. John Christopher Columbus Goins, Jr. received a warranty deed from Will H. Cooley January 20, 1959 to Lot 3, Block 7, Brownwood Heights, according to Brown County Deed Book 467, page 401.

John Christopher Columbus Goins. Jr, “a single man,” gave a warranty deed to Eddie Perkins May 6, 1965 to Lot 50, Block 9, Woodland Heights, for $50, according to Brown County Deed Book 527, page 367.

He was married to Mrs. Fannie Carpenter April 6, 1968, ac­cording to Brown County Marriage Book 24, page 320.
In 1969 John Christopher Columbus Goins, Jr. and Fannie Car­penter Goins lived at 1605 Main Boulevard, according to the Brownwood city directory.

Lewis Benjamin Goins, seventh known child of John Christo­pher Columbus Goins and Lou Cordelia “Delia” Goins, was born September 21, 1919 at Cleburne, Texas. In 1938, he was listed as a National Youth Administration worker living at 1314 Avenue B, Brownwood, according to the city directory. In 1938 and 1939 he lived at 1314 Avenue B. In 1941 he lived at 501 Ward, the address of his parents.

During World War II, Lewis Benjamin Goins enlisted in the U. S. Army and became a sergeant. He was killed in Germany November 22, 1944, according to Brown County Death Book 12, page 127. He was buried in Brownwood September 25, 1948. He was unmarried.

Ruth Pauline Goins, eleventh child of John Christopher Columbus Goins and Lou Cordelia “Delia” Goins, was born at Elkins, Texas, July 17, 1922, according to Brown County Birth Book 12, page 539. Ten of the couple’s children were still liv­ing at that time. Ruth Pauline Goins was listed in the 1939 city directory of Brownwood as a student living at 1314 Avenue B, the address of her parents. She was married to Lonnie L. Bien February 24, 1941, according to Brown County Marriage Book 14, page 67.

Roy Albert Goins, assumed to be the twelfth child of John Christopher Columbus Goins and Lou Cordelia “Delia” Reese Goins, was born in 1924 in Brown County. He appeared as a student in the 1941 city directory of Brownwood living at 501 Ward, the address of his parents.

On September 14, 1942, he received a warranty deed from J. M. Walter to Lot 2, Block A, Smith Addition, Brownwood, ac­cording to Brown County Deed Book 324, page 459. His fa­ther gave a note in the purchase of the property. Roy Albert Goins received a release on the property October 20, 1943, ac­cording to Brown County Deed Book 321, page 627.

Roy Albert Goins was married to Callie Carolyn Muhle September 27, 1952, according to Brown County Marriage Book 21, page 77. Callie Carolyn Muhle was born at Hawley, Texas in 1933. In 1953 they lived at 804 East Baker, the ad­dress of his parents. He was employed as a truck driver.

In 1954 he continued as a truck driver and lived at 106 South Greenleaf, according to the city directory. In 1955, he was employed by Ace Feed Mill. Later in that year he was a self-employed trucker living at 1600 1/2 Avenue C, Brownwood.

In 1956 Roy Albert Goins was an accountant employed by Clover Milling Company. In 1958, he was listed as a laborer doing yardwork. In 1959, they lived at No. 47, Park Homes Apartments. In 1961 he was listed as unemployed and living at 804 East Baker, formerly the address of his parents.
In 1963 and 1964, he was employed by Bob Pitts Furniture Company and lived at 804 East Baker, according to the Brownwood city directory. In 1966 he was listed as a plumber living at 804 East Baker. In 1969 he was employed by the city of Brownwood and lived at 2006 Avenue B, according to the city directory.

Barney H. Guynes was born in Athens, Texas about 1905. He was married to Eris Onetta Holsenback December 8, 1924 in Lovington, New Mexico. In 1948 they removed to Snyder, Texas where he was employed as a carpenter. He, a Jehovah’s Witness, continued there when he died January 16, 1990. He was buried in Hillside Memorial Gardens.

Survivors included his wife, three daughters, Margaret John­son of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and Sue Locke and Shirley Hazle, both of Snyder; seven sons, B. C. of Leuders and Billy Joe, Willie Ray, J.T, Walter, Tommie Lee and Donnie, all of Snyder; two sisters, Cassie Carter of San Antonio and Emmer McFarland of Seagraves and two brothers, Tommy Guynes and Zack Guynes, both of San Angelo.
