FACTS and SOURCES:
Kentucky Information: (from Family Search Wiki page on Kentucky)
In 1775, Daniel Boone ushered the first settlers into Kentucky along the Wilderness Road, through the Cumberland Gap. On 1 June 1792, Kentucky became the 15th state to join the Union. A large migration into the state occurred around this time; extending into the early 1800’s. Originally part of Virginia (District of Kentucky: Fayette, Jefferson, and Lincoln counties), Kentucky lies in the east, south-central region of the United States. The State currently includes 120 counties with Frankfort as its capitol.
In 1780, Kentucky was still part of Virginia – the following maps of Virginia shows the western part that include the land that becomes Kentucky.
In 1780 “Kentucky County”, Virginia was divided into the three counties of Fayette, Jefferson, and Lincoln.
In 1785 the counties of Bourbon, Madison, and Mercer were pending, and Nelson County became effective.

(NOTE: The following is listed on Ancestry.com, but is based on other people’s trees, not on actual documents. I am not sure why that is considered a source? I assume someone must have a record showing that Isham Chisum married a woman by the last name of “Russell” in KY based on the entry, but it would be nice to see the document – and the date of the marriage. The estimated birth year is “estimated” and according to documents appears 20-30 years too early for Isham Chisum related to the Amelia County, Va Chisums. The earliest documents of Isham Chisum are in 1792 – meaning a safe estimate is that he was born 20-30 years before that, so b. 1762-72): See: 1738 birth year of Isham Chisum in Va.
