Key dates include the 1783 land tax in Hanover showing only Walter Chisholm Sr and David Chisholm Sr listed – where David has 791 acres of land. Then in the 1787 tithe and tax list in Hanover – David Chisholm Sr has is sons John Chisholm and Walter Chisholm show up on his tithe list – indicating they are old enough to be listed. In 1788 the Hanover County, Va land tax list shows that David Chisholm Sr has conveyed 431 acres of his land to his sons John Chisholm and Walter Chisholm.

Finally, in 1811 a lawsuit confirms that David Chisholm Jr is the executor of his brother Walter Chisholm’s estate (died in 1806), where Walter had been the executor of other brother John Chisholm decd’s estate. See:
