There appear to be more than one James Goin in Granville Co, NC. One James is “insolvent”, the other one is buying up and acquiring real estate (in other words, not insolvent) – both have a son named William . . . One is reported mulattoe, the other is reported white. This is also true for Thomas, Michael, William, Joseph – all have multiple people with same names on same years. Some are mulattoe, some are white – the chart and tithe list below helps sort them out (who is who).
