FACTS and EVENTS:
Isabella 0r “Cybella” or “Sibella” Hollis was born about 1725 or so. Her parents are assumed to be John Hollis b. 1700 and Esther Canterbury.
Court held May 23, 1753. Sibbilla Hall by John Hollis her next friend against Thomas Hall. In chancery. The Defendant failing to appear it is ordered that an attachment be issured against him returnable to the next Court. Fairfax County, VA; Fairfax County Court Order Book, 1749-1754 p. 393, http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/fairfax/court/etal554gwl.txt
On February 22, 1787, Charles Johnston, planter of Fairfield Co, SC, conveys 100 acres of land on Wateree Creek to “Sibella Hall widow”. The land is described as part of a tract that was conveyed to Charles Johnston on January 21, 1785. The land is described as being adjacent to a Francis Latens? land. The document also gives Sibella Hall‘s name as “Isabella Hall“. Her nephews (children of her brother Moses Hollis), John Hollis, and “Elisah Hollis” (likely this is Elijah Hollis) were witnesses to the transaction.
The above transaction confirms that Cybella Hollis Hall’s husband has died prior to 1787, as she is a “widow”.
