1863 brother Samuel Minor dies in Arcata, California – attacked while out working lumber – brother Isaac had left early for town for some business, Samuel was shot with a gun, shot with arrows, scalped, and hacked with an axe – he lived about a day longer and was able to describe the attackers.

1878/79: Samuel Minor’s probate papers found in DesMoines, Iowa, show he had returned back east in his final years of his life. According to the probate papers, he alternated living with his daughter Elizabeth Douglas Hedden (Minor)’s family, and his youngest son Theodore Henry Minor’s family.

1879 sister Louisa Minor dies some time prior to 1879 (unknown exactly when, but between 1850-1879 probate of father Samuel Minor’s estate).
