Records for William Gowen Jr are likely mixed with his father’s records.  I would assume that William Gowen Jr was likely the person in Virginia’s 14th Regiment with his brother Joseph.

Later in 1778, William Gowen may have felt needed at home to help tend to their crops, etc, after being absent over much of the prior year in the Army.  Achilles Eubank states that he enlisted as William Gowen of Bedford County, Virginia’s substitute in 1778:

In 1810, William Gowen Jr is living in Madison County, Kentucky with several other family members:

Joseph Gowin’s household has:  1 male over 45 yrs (Joseph Gowin), 1 male 10-16 yrs, 1 female over 45 yrs (spouse), 3 females 16 to 25 yrs, 1 female 10-15 yrs, 2 females under 10.  (Looks like they had 1 son, and 6 daughters living with them at this time).

Manoah Gowin’s household has 1 male 26-44 yrs, 1 male under 10, 1 female 16 to 25 yrs, 1 female under 10.  (Looks like they had 1 son and 1 daughter at this time).

Anester Gowin’s household has 1 male 16 to 25 yrs, 1 male under 10, 1 female over 45 yrs (Anester Gowin), 1 female 26 to 44 yrs, 1 female 10 to 15 yrs, and 1 female under 10.   (Anester Gowin is the widow of William Gowin, and the mother of Joseph Gowin, and possibly mother of others on this page).

Francis Gowin’s household has 1 male 26 to 44 yrs (Francis Gowin), 2 males under 10 yrs, 1 female 16 to 25 yrs, 1 female under 10 yrs.  (Looks like they had 2 sons and 1 daughter at this time).

William Gowen Jr died October 7, 1815 according to probate paperwork in Williamson County, Tennessee.  The inventory and sale of inventory are recorded there.  His wife, Jemimah Gowen, was the executor of his estate:

Some time between 1810 and October of 1815 it appears William Gowen Jr may have moved to Williamson County, Tennessee.
