On March 12, 1887 Nancy Elizabeth Tipton was born to Martha and Samuel Tipton.

On December 18, 1889 Sammie Katherine Tipton was born to Martha and Samuel Tipton.

(Note:  After death of first husb, Samuel F. Tipton, Martha Elizabeth Goyen moved back to Coles Creek and taught school at “Chapel Hill”.  Her brothers John Bell Goyen, and William Smith Goyen had moved to Texas and at their insistence and request Martha Elizabeth moved to Texas in early 1895 and settled in Gilmer, Texas).

Martha Elizabeth Goyen Tipton’s 2nd Marriage was to David F. Thomson born Nov. 1, 1853 in Beachville, Ontario, Canada.  They were married in Gilmer, Texas – Dec 13, 1898.

The 1900 US Census in Upshur County, Texas shows head of household 46 year old David F. Thomson from Canada a sawmill sight, living with his wife 45 year old “Lizzie” (Martha Elizabeth) Thomson born in Mississippi, also living there is his 20 year old step-son Roy Tipton born in Mississippi, and 13 year old Nancy Tipton, and 10 year old Sammie Tipton, along with 3 boarders who were sawmill laborers shown to be born in Texas – 22 year old Clide Stevens, 22 year old Will Piles, and 21 year old John Kelly.

Martha Elizabeth and Samuel Franklin Tipton’s daughter, Sallie Bell Tipton, died March 2, 1902 in Gilmer, Upshur County, Texas.  She had been married to Henry Buford Martin.  They had 2 children, Martha Elizabeth Goyen Tipton Thomson’s grandchildren – Robert Fulton Martin born in 1898 and Rosine LaNora Martin born in 1900.

… First, I request and will that out of the money of which I may die seized and possessed, all of my just debts and funeral expenses be first paid, and out of such money I desire that my square in Odd Fellows Cemetary have a low wall of brick and cement erected around it, one foot high, and that after first selling a certain gold watch that I now own and the proceeds thereof applied to the purchase of a … stone or monument to be placed over my grave, if there is any balance needed for the payment of such tombstone or monument, such balance is to be paid out of such moneys as I may have at the time of my death.

Martha Elizabeth Goyen Tipton Tomson’s husband David Thomson died March 8, 1905 in Nacogdoches, Tx at the farm home of John Bell Goyen.  David is buried in the City Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Tx.  Also buried here is Ella Green Parker Goyen – first wife of John Bell Goyen, and also Nina Aline Goyen the daughter of William Smith Goyen.

The 1910 US Census in Houston, Texas shows head of household 30 year old Clarence L (Roy) Tipton, a sawmill worker born in Mississippi living with his wife 24 year old Nina D. Tipton born in Texas, and their 1 year old daughter, Dorothy Tipton born in Texas.  His mother, 55 year old Mrs. Martha E. Thomson a shop dressmaker born in Mississippi, and his neice, and Martha Elizabeth’s granddaughter, 10 year old Rosine M. Martin born in Texas.
