1749-53 Adam Keller in Newberry Co, SC son of George Adam Keller

Adam Keller born around 1749-53 in what is today Newberry County, SC married to

PARENTS:

George Adam Keller b. abt 1725-1794

CHILDREN:

George Keller 1773-1820 married to Elizabeth

SIBLINGS:  (known at this time)

Adam Keller b abt 1749-53  (“likely” a child of George Adam Keller – receives ownership of the same land that George Adam Keller owned in Newberry County, South Carolina after George Adam Keller leaves for Savannah Georgia – its possible he is a cousin, but with the same name (Adam), that George Adam Keller often used, it seems more likely Adam Keller is George Adam Keller’s child.  Adam Keller is not included in George Adam Keller’s will – but this may be because George Adam Keller conveyed much of his land in Newberry County, South Carolina to Adam Keller, and maybe others).

George Paul Keller abt. 1755-60 (confirmed in George Adam Keller’s will in Georgia)

Mary Keller abt. 1760 (confirmed in George Adam Keller’s will in Georgia)

Jacob Keller abt 1762  (not confirmed – at this point, this is an assumption on my part that Jacob is a child of George Adam Keller’s.  He is the correct age, and appears to be living next to, or possibly in, land of George Adam Keller’s)

FACTS and SOURCES:

In 1765, George Adam Keller, father of Adam Keller, buys a lot inside the City of Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia – it is inside the city, near the river.  In 1768, he buys a 2nd lot directly next door – both lots are next to Fort Wayne and close to the rice fields on the North East side of Savannah – close to Fort Wayne, the rice fields, and the Savannah River.

Leaving half of this land, apparently to his older children who are staying in Newberry County, South Carolina (Adam Keller, and possibly Jacob Keller (reviewing Jacob Keller’s information to confirm what property/deeds/probate papers may be found to confirm he had part in this land).

In 1777 Adam Keller’s father, George Adam Keller of the State of Georgia, butcher, sells 50 acres still in his name in Newberry County, South Carolina to a Daniel Gartman.  George Adam Keller’s deeds in Georgia in 1768 (see above) also indicate his occupation as a butcher.  This deed confirms that George Adam Keller is not the same person as Adam Keller – and Adam Keller’s deed in 1795 sells land he receives from his father George Adam Keller, shortly after George Adam Keller’s death in late 1794 – indicating the title passed from George Adam Keller to Adam Keller.

In the 1800 US Census in Newberry County, SC, Adam Keller born before 1755 is listed with himself, 1 female born before 1755 (his wife most likely), and 2 females age 16-25.   Adam Keller’s son, George Keller is listed in Newberry County, born between 1756-1774 (later records confirm his birth year is closer to 1770).  George Keller has one female 16-25 (likely his wife) and 1 male under 10, and 1 female under 10.  There is also a Jacob Keller born between 1756-1774 in Newberry County, SC … Jacob’s 1810 Census indicates he was born before 1765, and his 1830 US Census indicates he was born between 1761-70 … combining the 3 US Census reports narrows Jacob Keller’s birth year some time between 1761 to 1765.  This is possibly another brother of Adam Keller (especially considering he is living nearby, adjacent to people that Adam is adjacent to in the land records).  Jacob is too old to be Adam’s son, so he is possibly a brother, or cousin.
