Likely siblings: (The following two names are listed on Sarah Hollis’ probate papers as her “heirs” receiving an equal share as her other children in probate.  This likely means that James Hollis Sr and Sarah Hollis had their own children named John and Moses.  These would appear to be a different set of John and Moses Hollis than Moses Hollis and Catherine Hollis’ children – so look for two different John and Moses about the same age as they are cousins likely living nearby or living in the same areas).

James Hollis, Sr. died at the age of 71 on 28 December 1801. His widow, Sarah Hall Hollis survived him but was deceased by 13 December 1814.  Their children can be seen in the probate paperwork – in 1802 the sale of James Hollis, Jr’s estate shows several of them buying items at the estate sale.  Then in the accounting and distribution of Sarah Hollis’ estate in 1814, the heirs are named in the accounting papers (Fairfield Co, SC).

In 1814, the court notes the heirs of Sarah Hollis (James Hollis’ widow) estate are:

John Hollis, James Hollis (Jr), Elizabeth Hollis, Burrell Hollis, Moses Hollis, Benjamin Hollis, Nancy Hollis, Roda Hollis, William Hollis, and Littleton Hollis.

September 16, 1826 James Harvey of Fairfield Dist conveyed 100 acres on the Horse Branch of Wateree Creek to Burrell Hollis for payment of 64 dollars. The land is bounded by
James Harvey, James Wilson, David Lavender and Daniel Hollis Dec’d , and John Pickett’s lands which land was purchased from Col Havis. This land was granted to James Hervey on Jan 5, 1795. Witnessed by: Richard S Noth and Wm McCreight. Fairfield Dist, SC.

July 14, 1826, Rody Hollis (Roda Hollis – Burrell Hollis’ sister) of Fairfield Dist, for 15 dollars payd by Joseph Lumpkins, sells to Joseph Lumpkins all of her part of the tract of land containing 140 acres on the Horse Branch where Burrel Hollis now lives. This is part of “my legacy refference to the old original will plainly shows the title at this time is in James Harvey land …  Witnessed by David Mason, and M B Fogg. Fairfield Dist, SC.

July 14, 1826, Nancy Hollis (another of Burrell Hollis’ sisters) of Fairfield Dist, for 20 dollars paid by Joseph Lumpkins, sells to Joseph Lumpkins all of her part of the tract of land containing 140 acres on the Horse Branch where Burrel Hollis now lives. Burrel Hollis wrote his will on September 22, 1835.  In his will he names his wife, Elizabeth Hollis, and his children:

March 19, 1836 (just a few weeks before Burrel Hollis’ will is probated) Deed: Burrel Hollis sole 46 acres of land for 365 dollars to John B. Pickett – both of Fairfield District, South Carolina. The land was originally granted to James Harvey for 200 acres on January 5, 1794. Witnessed by M. A. M. Leggo, Moses Knighton, and Elijah V. Hollis. Signed: Burrel Hollis. On March 30, 1836 Henry Gibson – Justice of the Quorum in Fairfield District, took testimony from Elizabeth Hollis, wife of Burrel B. Hollis, and she released her rights of dower and interest in the property to John B. Pickett.
