1653 July 25 – Will of JOHN HARRISON of Deptford in the county of Kent, mariner, dated 25 July 1653.
To my wife Rebecca Harrison for her life all those tenements in Deptford or elsewhere in Kent and then to the heirs of her body by me begotten. I give her all my plate and ready money and appoint her executrix.

1669/70 Jan 13 – Will dated 13 Jan. 1669/70 of EDWARD HARRISON of St. James,
gentlemen:
To my daughter, Rosamond Harrison £2,000 stlg. Six years after my decease and £500 more at the age of 15, also one negro girl, and her maintenance and schooling till she marries or reaches the age of 16.
To my wife, Dorothy Harrison, all the estate that I received with her upon marriage, part lies in the occupation of Ralph Fretwell, Esq. And part in the hands of Wm. Rose, also one-third part of my estate for her life and then to my son, Edward Harrison and his heirs, leaving to my wife the use of all linen, etc. which was hers before marriage. The residue of my plate and household goods to be divided between my children Edward and Rosamond. My plantation to be divided and managed with the consent of my overseers. To my cousin John Harrison 40,000 lbs. Of muscovado sugar and the horse he rides. To my cousin Thomas Harrison 20,000 lbs. Of sugar in two installments. To my god-son, Thomas Ince, 1,000 lbs. sugar, and my other god-son 500 lbs. To the parish of Saint James 5,000 lbs. sugar and to St. Peter 2,500 lbs. To my servant, John, the stone-cutter, to William Russell, to Isabell _____, Faith Martin, Bridgett Sage, and John Banfield 500 lbs. each. To Joshua Antrobus, and to Joseph James 1,000 lbs. each.
I appoint Edward Harrison my sole executor, and likewise all my real and personal estate to him and his heirs for ever. If my son Edward and daughter Rosamond should die without issue then it shall pass to my cousin John Harrison. I appoint as overseers Samuel Newton, Esq., Robert Legard, gentleman, and John Rokeby, merchant, and I give them £10 each to buy a ring. Sgd. Edward Harrison. Codicil dated 17 Jan. 1669/70. The gifts to my wife to be in lieu of dower. If further issue born to my wife, I give to the same £1,500 stlg. At 16, and if it be a son then on the death of son Edward without issue, all the estate given to him, and if it be a girl then to divide the estate equally with Rosamond, and in default of issue to my cousin John Harrison. I appoint the finishing of the stone house which I am now building. Sgd. Edward Harrison. Witnesses: Robt. Legard, Joshua Antrobus.

1670 Apr 15 – Will dated 15 April 1670 of MARGARET HARRISON of St. George.
To my son Samuel Sedgwick my estate until my son James Sedgwick shall come in proper person and lay claim on one-half, and my son Samuel the other half. My son John Sedgwick 10,000 lbs. sugar and two negro women and a pickaneny for his daughter Martha Sedgwick.
To my son Elias Sedgwick 6,000 lbs. sugar.
To my daughter Elizabeth Simkins all my wearing apparel. To my grand-daughter Margarett Simkins my bed with 2 sheets and pillows and my saddle with a necklace of currell (coral) and pearl and the jewel belonging to it, a stone ring, my bible and a suit of mourning.
To Charles Harrison, senior, £3,000 cy. To Bartholomew Evans 10/-. To Mrs. Anne Ulright a scarfe and 20/-. To my ___ John Coppen one scarfe and 20/- and a scarfe to his wife. To Richard Salter and John Strode each a scarfe and 20/- to buy a ring. These legacies to be paid by Samuel and James if he comes, proportionally. I appoint Richard Salter and John Strode overseers.

1670 June 20 – Will dated 20 June 1670 of REBECCA HARRISON of London, widow.
My estate in England, Barbados, and Nevia in America, and in the hands of Isaac Barton, John Edwards, Stephen Mitchell and Michael Smith, merchants, unto Edward Pelham, son of Thomas Pelham of Compton Valence in Dorset, of London, merchant, and appoint him executor.

To Hugh Kelly 400 lbs. To my mother, Alice Harrison and my brother William, and my two sisters Alice and Mary 10,000 and my mother to have the disposal of it.
To my brother Thomas Harrison and sister Elizabeth Harrison all my land, houses, goods, etc. (before excepted) equally between them, and I appoint them executors.

1675/76 March 11 – Will of EDWARD HARRISON the elder of St. John, planter, dated 11 March 16755/6.
To my son Edward Harrison all my real and personal estate, and failing issue, to the children of my sister Joan Smith (Harrison). To my servant Robert Browne his freedom. To Nicholas Doll 2,000 lbs. sugar. To Elizabeth a mulatto her freedom when Mrs. Ann Dixwell’s lease is expired which she hath of her. I appoint Henry Walrond sole executor.
Sgd. The mark of Edward Harrison. Witnesses: Ann Dixwell the elder, Ann Dixwell the younger, Martha Dixwell.
Codicil dated 13 March 1675/6. I give to Mrs. Ann Dixwell the elder 4,000 lbs. of sugar. This bequest was made in the presence of Nicholas Dall (his mark). Robert Browne. Will and Codicil proved 29 March 1676 before Jonathan Atkins. Recorded 13 April 1676.
1700 July 4 – Will of ROBERT HARRISON of St. Peter, All Saints, esquire, dated 4 July 1700.
To my son Robert the dwellinghouse in Speightstown wherein Benj. Dillon lives and _____ sq. ft. of land of the plantation where I now live to be run out by the stock pen near the seaside on the edge of the path leading away to my mansion house, to build him a storehouse. To my sons Robert and Edward my library of books. To my son Edward one dwellinghouse in Speightstown and one horse and one slave. To my son Thomas Harrison one horse, and one slave. To my daughter Katharine Harrison one horse and one girl slave. To my wife Katharine £1,500 in lieu of dower and £150 per annum out of the profits arising from my two estates situate in St. Peter and St. Lucy over the said sum of £1,500 until the same is paid. To my wife all my plate and best furniture, a horse, two slaves, and living in my mansion house where I now life on my plantation in St. Lucy during her widowhood. To my sons Edward and Thomas £1,500 each at 21 out of the profits of my estates. To my daughter Katharine £1,500 at 18. My three children to be educated out of my two estates and their abode in my mansion house. To my son Jonas (sic.) Harrison at 21 the plantation whereon I now live in St. Peter except the land bequeathed to my son Robert, together with the slaves and implements and the heirs male of his body, and failing heirs to Thomas, Edward, and Josiah (sic.), in succession and failing heirs to the right heir of Robert.

1701 Nov 10 – Will dated 10 November 1701 of THOMAS HARRISON, mariner.
To Thomas Evans all my land and dwellinghouses situate in the town of Kirby, Essex. Also debt of £10 due me from my Uncle Stephen Buroughs of the town of Kirby, husbandman, and all sums due to me from any ships or persons, and all my real estate wheresoever, and appoint him sole executor.

1702 Jan 12 – Will dated 12 January 1702, of JOHN JAMES HARRISON of St. James, Practitioner in physic.
To my wife Mary Harrison my riding horse called Mellowes, together with her saddle and furniture. The rest of my personal estate to be divided between my wife and my three children John, Mary, and Frances Harrison, the management of my children and their estates during widowhood, otherwise to be put in the hands of Capt. Joseph Harris and Capt. Samuel Hagbourne. I appoint my wife and the said Joseph Harris and Samuel Hagbourne executors.

1703 May 26 – Will dated 26 May 1703 of THOMAS HARRISON of St. Michael.
To my mother, Mrs. Lydia Harrison, £80. To my mother-in-law Mrs. Mary Davies £10 to buy mourning, and I discharge her of £150, one year’s interest due on £1,500 since Feb. last on my wife’s marriage portion.
To my sister-in-law, Philippa Thornhill, widow and her daughter Thomazin Thornhill £10 each to buy mourning and £10 to buy a ring. To John Thornhill son of Philippa, all my wearing apparel and £20 for three years for his education. To my wife Mary all the rest of my state in Barbados and England and appoint her executrix.

1709 Aug 17 – Will of JOHN HARRISON of St. Philip, dated 17 august 1709.
To my wife Elizabeth Harrison all my real estate with the use of my household stuff and two cows during her life. To my son Andrew Harrison after his mother’s death one-half of my land and four slaves. I direct that Andrew shall help his brother John to build a house with the timber growing on his land and it shall be 30 feet long and 13 feet wide. My grand-daughter, Mary Parsons to be put to school for three years at the expense of my estate. To my niece, Dorothy Pickering 20/-. To my grand-daughter Mary Pickering, 20/-. 1711 Nov 27 – Will of MARY HARRISON of St. James dated 27 Nov. 1711.
To my son John Harrison my dwellinghouse, 13 acres of land and six slaves. To my daughter Mary Mills, three slaves. To my daughter Frances Harrison six slaves. 1724/25 Feb 13 – Will of PHILIP HARRISON of St. George, millwright, dated 13 Febry. 1724/5.
Any sums due me from Samuel Forte to be paid towards debt due by me to Messrs. Withers & Harrison, and also moneys due me from the estate of George Walker towards payment of my debt to Messrs. Crumpton & Hassell.
To my wife, Mary Harrison, for life all my real and personal estate, and after her death to my nephew, Philip Rea (? Raa); to my brother Joseph Harrison, a slave, Cuffee, and after his death to my niece Jane Raa. To my niece Ethel Gittens, wife of Samuel Gittena, a slave called Nanny; to my niece Mary Harrison, a slave. I appoint my wife, Mary, and my kinsman Samuel Gittens executors.

1732 Sept 3 – Will of KATHARINE HARRISON of St. Lucy, widow of Robert Harrison late of St. Peter, dated 3 Sept. 1732.
To my son Robert Harrison one guinea of gold. To his three children, Robert, Katherine, and Mary £ 50 cy. Each. To my niece Anne Maycock, the wife of Major John Maycock £ 50 cy. To her three daughters, Sarah, Anna, and Christian £ 25 cy. To my son Edward Harrison £1000. To Edward and Katherine Harrison all the residue of my estate, and I appoint them as executors. Sgd. 1740 Jan 16 – Will of WILLIAM HARRISON of St. Michael, Coppersmith, dated 16 Jan. 1740.
To my friend, Thomas Morrison of St. Michael all my estate in Barbados and Jamaica and all I am entitled to under the Will of my brother Edward Harrison late of Kingston, Jamaica, and I appoint him sole executor. 1745 Nov 6 – Will of THOMAS HARRISON* of St. Michael, Barbados, dated 6 Novr. 1745. [*Hon. Thomas Harrison, the founder of the Harrison Free School.]
To my daughter, Jane Harper, my interest in her dower, being the negroes which I bought at outcry. I also give her my plantation in St. Thomas with two sugar works and negroes thereon for her life, and the use of all my household stuff on the said plantation. To my granddaughter Jane Harper £ 500 cy. At 18 or marriage to be paid by her mother out of the profits of the same plantation. To my sister-in-law, Sarah Worrell, £ 150 cy. Out of the profits of the same plantation, and the use of a chamber and furniture in the dwellinghouse of the same plantation during her life.
To my son John Harrison the plantation in the parish of St. Andrew called the Overhill and also my plantation in St. Peter called Ashton Hall, with the negroes, cattle, stock, etc. also the Customs house and the storehouse in Speightstown called Scantlebury’s, and also all my land and buildings in Christ Church, and my land in the parish of St. Thomas formerly Bannatyne’s and also all my land and buildings in the town of St. Michael not herein mentioned together with the reversion on the death of his sisters of the houses given them for life and also all debts due to me (except the debt due to me by his brother George Harrison). I also give him my shallop and shallop-negroes, subject to his paying all my debts, funeral expenses and legacies.
I give to my daughter, Eleanor Neil, widow, £ 100 cy. And my house in Swan Street during her life. To my daughter Mary Walke £ 100 cy. And my house at the Roebuck, formerly Barbara Moor’s, during her life. To my daughter, Sarah Minveille £ 100 cy. And my southernmost corner tenement in High Street, together with the storehouse behind it, fronting Palmetto Street, for her life. To my grandchildren, son and daughters of my daughters, Mary Walke and Sarah Minveille, living at my death £ 100 cy. Each at 21.
I give to my good friends, Thomas Withers and William Duke Esqs., to my brothers-in-law, Thomas Duke and Doctor Jonathan Worrell, to my sons-in-law, John Walke and Elias Minveille, to my sisters, Sarah Worrell and Martha Duke, and to my daughters, Jane Harper, Eleanor Neil, Mary Walke and Sarah Minveille, £ 20 cy. Each to buy mourning.
To my granddaughters, Joannah, Eleanor, and Elizabeth Neil, £100 cy. Each at 21 to be paid by my son, George Harrison to whom I devise my plantation in St. Michael and St. George and the residue of my real and personal estate in this island during his life and after his death to such of his children as he shall by Will appoint, and in case of no Will to my right heirs.
I appoint my sons, George and John, and my friends, Thomas Withers, and William Duke, Esqs., my brothers Doctor Jonathan Worrell and Thomas Duke executors.

1745 Apr 14 – Will of Hon. JOHN HARRISON of St. Michael, Barbados, dated 14 April 1755.
To my sister Jane Sturge, wife of William Sturge of St. Michael, Eleanor Neil of the same parish, widow, Mary Walk, wife of John Walk, and Sarah Minveille, wife of Elias Minveille, my brother-in-law, John Walk, and nephew-in-law, Wm. Moore, Jr., and niece Jane, his wife, £ 50 each to buy mourning.
To each of the following nephews and nieces–Jane Harrison, daughter of my late and only brother, Dr. George Harrison, Joannah Niele, Eleanor Niele and Elizabeth Niele, daughters of my sister Eleanor Niele, John Walk, Robert Walk, Mary Walk, Eleanor Walk, Abigail Jane Walk, Jane Walk, and Sarah Walk, children of my sister Mary Walk. To my nephew Thomas Minvielle, my River plantation, St. Andrew, at 23 years and the storehouse in Speightstown and an allowance of £ 60 p.a. and £ 100 per annum, and in case of his death, the said plantation to be sold. To my nephew Thomas Harper Harrison at 23, and in the event of his death before 23, Ashton Hall and Strouds plantations and the residue of my estate to my nephew, Harrison Walk, at 23, and failing him to my nephew, Thomas Minvielle, and failing him to my nephew, David Minvielle, and failing him to my nephew John Walk.
I appoint Wm. Sturge, Elias Minvielle, Hon. John Cobham and Samuel Fouchett of London to be executors and I give them £ 50 each for mourning.

1755 Apr 19 – Will of ROBERT HARRISON of St. Peter, Barbados, dated 19 April, 1755.
To my son Edward Harrison £ 400 for 3 years, a horse valued at £ 25, and a mulatto slave. To my son Thomas Harrison, £ 700 at 21, a horse valued at £ 25. and a negro boy. To my son John Harrison £ 700 at 21, a horse worth £ 25, and a negro boy. To my daughter Katherine Harrison £ 700, a horse worth £ 25, and a negro woman. To my daughter Mary Harrison £ 700, a horse worth £ 25, a negro woman and a girl. My sons and daughters to be maintained out of the profits of my estate.
To Edward Harrison, my law books and the case which contains them, and my other books, except Nelson’s Justice of the Peace, which I give to Robert Harrison. Residue of my estate to Robert Harrison, and I appoint him executor.

1755 Nov 29 – Will of JOHN HARRISON of St. Philip, Barbados, dated 29 November, 1755.
My three slaves (named) and 8 1/2 acres of land bounding on lands of Mr. Nicholas Rice, to be sold by my wife, Ruth, and Captain John Best for payment of my debts.
To my wife my slave Betty and 4 acres of land and buildings for her life and then to my daughters Susanna and Rebecca Harrison and their heirs. If they die without issue, to my sister-in-law Dorothy Sisnett.
To my daughters Susanna and Rebbeca three slaves (named) at the age of 15, with remainder to my wife for life and then to my sister-in-law, Dorothy Sisnett.
My wife, Ruth, and Captain John Best executors. Sgd. Jno. Harrison. Witnesses: William Weeks, John Norris. Proved and recorded 22 Jany. 1756.
1757 Mar 21 – Will of WILLIAM HARRISON of St. Philip, Barbados, dated 21 March, 1757.
To my wife Ann Harrison two slaves (named). My executors to sell my house and any of my eight slaves (named) to pay my debts, and the residue to my son William Harrison at 21. Residue of my estate to my brother-in-law, James White. I appoint James White and my wife Ann executors. (The testator died before signing the Will. It was recorded 16 June 1757.)
1762 Jan 16 – Will of BENJAMIN HARRISON of St. Lucy, Barbados, planter, dated 16 January, 1762.
To my nephew John Harrison £ 5; to my nieces, Elizabeth Stuart and Rebecca Farwell (? Favell) £ 15 each. To my wife Sarah my ten slaves (named) and the residue of my estate, and I appoint her executrix.

1764 Dec 9 – Will of THOMAS HARRISON of St. Peter, Gentleman, dated 9 December 1764.
To my sister Katherine Harrison, 1 girl slave, Polly, and £ 180. To my sister Mary Harrison £ 200. To my niece, Susanna Harrison £ 50. To my kinsman, Benjamin Maycock £ 15. To my kinswoman, Anna Maycock £ 15. To my kinswoman, Sarah Maycock £ 7.10. To my kinswoman, Mary Maycock £ 7.10. set free my slave Rachel, and £ 50 to be paid to the churchwarden of St. Peter for her support, according to the Statute. Also a boarded house to be furnished her and 40/- per annum for life.
Residue of my estate to my brother, Robert Harrison, subject to my debts and legacies, and the said Robert to be executor.

1766 June 9 – Will of ROBERT HARRISON of St. Peter, Barbados, dated 9 June 1766.
To my sister Katherine Harrison, one slave girl and £ 200, to my sister Mary Harrison £ 200, to my brother John Harrison £ 200, to my niece Susanna Harrison £ 200. To my cousin Anna Maycock £ 100. To my cousin Benjamin Maycock and to his daughters Mary and Sarah, £ 25 each.
I set free my negro woman Betty and give her £ 150 and two mulatto girl slaves, Phillis and Rachel. I set free my negro woman Grace and give her £100 and a mulatto girl slave Mary. A house to be provided for Grace and Betty.
Residue of my estate to my brother, Edward Harrison; and I appoint him executor.

1763 May 19 – Will of ELIZABETH HARRISON of St. Michael, widow, dated 19 May 1763.
To my daughter Mary Duvy, wife of Andrew Duvy £ 220 now in her husband’s hands. To my grand-daughter, Elizabeth Duvy, £ 50, a bed, bolster and pillows, a set of damask curtains, coverlit, two new damask table cloths, two new sideboard cloths, 8 new towels, 6 new napkins, a case with 12 silver handled knives.
To my grandson, William Duvy, £ 50 a silver tankard and all the rest of my real and personal estate except the following: To my grand-daughter, Alice Duvy, £ 50, a pair of holland sheets and pillow cases, 12 silver teaspoons, and a copper waiter; to my grand-daughter, Rebecca Duvy, £ 50, a silver salver, feather bed bolster and pillows, a pair of holland sheets and pillow cases and 8 new napkins; to my grandson, Andrew Duvy, £ 50 and 6 large silver spoons; to my granddaughter, Hannah Duvy, £ 50, a pair of holland sheets and pillow cases and 6 large silver spoons.

1771 July 8 – Will of MARY HARRISON of Speightstown, St. Peter, Spinster, dated 8 July 1771.
